"There was Donald - his head stuck into the soft mud, and his tail feathers wiggling high in the air. Mickey's nephews laughed long and loud."
Donald Duck as the character we know today first appeared in Disney comic strips in 1934 as a sidekick to Mickey Mouse (though he makes an appearance as a more simple duck in the 1931 ADVENTURES OF MICKEY MOUSE). Donald, Mickey, and Goofy soon formed a popular comic trio, with irascible Donald often serving as a foil to Mickey's good humor. Among Donald Duck's most famous creators were Art Babbit, Dick Huemer, and Dick Lundy. By 1937, Donald would finally earn his own film, after appearing as the protagonist in this vivid illustrated storybook.
