THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE
"Truth, she thought. As terrible as death. But harder to find."
THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE reads much like an update of Orwell's 1984 for the Cold War era. The main characters struggle through a life under a totalitarian government in Japanese-occupied San Francisco. Trouble threatens when they become involved in a chase after the author of a fantasy novel in which the Allies, not the Axis, have won the war. An adventure of spy/counterspy intrigue, rarely seen with the spine entirely unfaded as here.
New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, (1962). 8.25'' x 5''. Original textured black cloth, spine and front board lettered in red. In original unclipped ($3.95) pictorial dust jacket designed by Robert Galster, photographic portrait of the author on rear panel by Arthur Knight. Yellow topstain. Yellow printed advance review slip laid in. Light bump to foot of book's spine. Just a touch of shelfsoil to extremities of jacket spine.
