POEMS FROM WILLIAM BLAKE'S SONGS OF INNOCENCE
Sendak has cited William Blake as one of his central influences, and echoes of Blake's work – both text and image – are obvious throughout Sendak's oeuvre. This privately distributed limited edition has thus become one of Sendak's most sought-after productions. It includes one of Blake's best-loved poems, "The Lamb, " as well as "Little Boy Lost" and "Little Boy Found, " each illustrated with a vignette by Sendak paying homage to Blake's original illustrated work.

Illustrated by Sendak with title-page sepia vignette and 7 further sepia vignettes (one for each poem). 20, pages. Laid in presentation slip from Max Reinhardt, one of the owners of Bodley Head.
