First and only edition of this curious ABC, printed by a small private press from the late 1940s based in New Jersey.
A FISHY ABC OR AN ALPHABET OF THE SEA
"J / is for JELLY FISH / whose plans are malicious / which seems such a shame / with a name so delicious"
Each letter is represented by a different fish, illustrated with broad, bold color illustrations on each page (printed on rectos only) and with text in rhyme in large letters. Quite scarce: OCLC lists only four institutions with holdings. Both striking and fun, it's what any small press children's book should be.
Woodstown, New Jersey: Seven Stars Press, 1947. Title on front cover: "A fishy ABC"; title continued on title page: "or an alphabet of the sea." 10'' x 6.25''. Original quarter green cloth, flexible color pictorial card. pages. Slightest bit of cover soil, faint stamp echo on rear cover, touch of rubbing.
