By Sarah Catherine Martin, from publisher James Kendrew
First edition of this classic and comical nursery rhyme in chapbook form, featuring a very talented dog.
OLD MOTHER HUBBARD AND HER DOG
Originally written by Sarah Catherine Martin in 1804, this little set of rhymes was immensely popular, as evidenced by this edition: "pirated editions by the chapbook publishers were to be found everywhere, and it rapidly established itself as one of their stock productions" (Opie). James Kendrew was one such publisher, but he set his shop apart from the others by printing "particularly neat" productions such as this one (LyricalBallads@SFU).
