First edition of this scarce Volland title, fancifully illustrated by Sarg – an exceptional copy in the rare original box.
Fine in near fine box.
Stories in verse by Potter (her name mistakenly printed as "Porter" on the cover), illustrated by Tony Sarg. A puppeteer, cartoonist, fabric and interior designer, and balloon-builder for Macy's early Thanksgiving Day parades, Sarg was also creator of the massive Nantucket Sea Serpent and builder of inflatable installations at the Chicago World's Fair. A rare title in Volland's Sunny Book series, in remarkably beautiful condition.
Chicago: Volland, (1918). Octavo. Original pictorial boards. In original box. Illustrated in color throughout. Slight wear to box.
