First edition of this foray into Catland (with a few other animal friends), with characteristically bizarre yet appealing illustrations by Wain.
Very good plus.
IN ANIMAL LAND
Known as "The Edwardian Cat Artist That Went Mad," Wain was once "the most famous cat artist on earth" (Haining). His work in conceiving an entire Catland inspired the creators of Felix the Cat and even Mickey Mouse; Haining notes that Wain also "played a major part in making the cat the most popular of all domestic pets." The pictures in this book immerse the reader in Catland, with many ensuing shenanigans. A wonderfully weird and beautiful book by perhaps the best known English illustrator of cats.

London: S.W. Partridge, . 10.25'' x 8''. Original pictorial boards. Illustrated by Wain with fabulous color cover, color frontispiece, and a profusion of great black-and-white drawings on every page. Bound in is a color pictorial postcard sized ad for Sunlight soap. Edges, and tips worn, fragile paper spine intact but has wear: still a nice copy.
