First edition of the last of Virginia Woolf's novels published in her lifetime, glimpses into the lives of a single family over a span of fifty years.
Near fine in very good plus jacket.
"There must be another life, here and now, she repeated. This is too short, too broken. We know nothing, even about ourselves."
While Woolf originally conceived the book as a mix of essay and novel that would serve as a "sequel" to A ROOM OF ONE'S OWN, she eventually separated the two genres, expanding the essay into THREE GUINEAS and the novel into THE YEARS. The conflicts and resolutions of the Partiger family are revealed through isolated scenes of everyday life, beginning in 1880 and continuing until the present day. A tremendous work of art.
