Early reprint, published the same year as the George Sully first, of the popular world travelogue using the cheeky theme – in the Prohibition-era – of cocktails.
Fine in very good plus jacket.
A COCKTAIL CONTINENTALE
"Tell him you want to see everything you ought not to see – and you will enjoy Europe."
Each chapter is organized as a "sip" of Reynolds's travels across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Reynolds gleefully maintains the alcohol theme throughout, with the effect something like a middle finger to Prohibition back in the States. The book sold quite well, with multiple printings in the first year, in perhaps a bit of literary rebellion against the 18th Amendment.
New York: A.L. Burt Company, (1926). 7.25'' x 4.75''. Original red cloth, front board stamped in black, spine lettered in black. In original color pictorial dust jacket with publisher's ads printed on verso. xxviii, 290 pages. Shallow chipping and edgewear to bright jacket, with a spot on red cloth that has faintly bled onto rear verso of jacket.
