First printing of the Hugo Award-winning futuristic political fable, in which a lunar colony revolts through the beneficent assistance of a powerful computer that develops AI.
THE MOON IS A HARSH MISTRESS
"[A]ll of this society in THE MOON IS A HARSH MISTRESS arose out of discussions that Robert and I had. What happened was that we held a number of discussions [...] about ideal government." – Virginia Heinlein
Nicknamed "Mike" (a reference to Sherlock Holmes's more intelligent brother, Mycroft), the supercomputer guides Luna through revolution, with many conscious parallels to the American Revolution. The book also popularized the acronym TANSTAAFL, "There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch" in the 1960s. As with many of Heinlein's works, a conscious political statement and a classic of science fiction. This is an unusually nice copy.
