"Being reminded of the nighttime ritual she shared with her sister so long ago spurred an incredibly details dream that night. In the dream, the room was hers, but the color scheme was that of her downstairs neighbor's – bright green walls in the living room accented by red furniture with yellow trim. It felt like stepping into a colorful Spanish painting." – Amy Gary
GOODNIGHT MOON captures the comfort and enchantment of cozy bedtime hours shared with a loved one. By choosing to transform the characters from humans into rabbits, "the resulting book, rather than being tied to a human environment, achieved an otherworldly, timeless dimension" (Silvey). There is currently no authoritative method of determining first printing copies of GOODNIGHT MOON except through the price on the scarce dust jacket (which is even rarer to find unclipped). In copies lacking the jacket, as this one, the Harper & Brothers imprint indicates an early printing, before the publisher became Harper & Row. A masterful and arguably perfect book.
