First edition of this anthology collecting the Sherlock Holmes STRAND short stories from 1921 to 1927, including two stories unusually narrated by Holmes himself.
THE CASE-BOOK OF SHERLOCK HOLMES
"When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."
This is the last publication of the Holmes Canon, a final hurrah with favorites like "The Adventure of the Lion's Mane," which takes place during Holmes's retirement to the Sussex Downs. Due to their later composition and some inconsistencies in style, the stories of the CASE-BOOK remain a source of endless gleeful controversy among Sherlockians. This is an exceptionally nice copy of a book that rarely survives looking so fresh.
London: John Murray, (1927). 7.25'' x 4.75''. Original full red cloth, gilt-lettered spine and front board. 320 pages. Housed in custom red cloth box with black goatskin spine label and gilt leather bookplate inside. Just a touch of sunning to spine, typical offsetting to endpapers. Cloth clean and bright.
