Classic sea adventure tale, based on the experiences of mutineer Peter Heywood (fictionalized herein as narrator Roger Byam) and thus heavily slanted to give a romanticized, hero-worshipful portrait of the ever-"courteous" rebel Fletcher Christian and a rather unkind view of Captain William Bligh, indelibly inscribed in the popular imagination as a tyrannical persecutor and ill-mannered table companion due in no small part to the extreme success of Nordhoff & Hall's work. The novel was adapted for the screen three times: first in 1933, starring Errol Flynn; again just two years later, in the Academy Award-winning Clark Gable/Charles Laughton production; and again in 1962, featuring a mutinous Marlon Brando overthrowing the harsh rule of Trevor Howard. (The 1984 "The Bounty," a revisionist effort at greater historical fidelity to actual events, owed substantially less to the novel as source material and starred a deeply aggrieved Mel Gibson, about whom the less said the better.)

Two small closed tears to and mild creasing to jacket panels; slight chipping to spine ends. Faint toning to spine and margins of rear panel.
