First impression of the first James Bond short story collection, featuring the only original jacket design to depict any part of James Bond himself.
Very good in very good jacket.
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY
"The red 'Eyes Only' stamp, which appears on secret documents (and was illustrated on the dust-jacket), was lifted straight from the author's Naval Intelligence experience." – Jon Gilbert
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY was the only short story collection published in Fleming's lifetime, based on his work for a proposed television series. Fleming was very particular about dust jacket art – he had designed the jackets for the first few Bond novels himself – and he loved Richard Chopping's trompe l'oeil style. According to biographer Andrew Lycett, "Ian understood the important contribution Chopping was making to his success," and after this book Chopping asked for (and received) a substantial raise.
