Marcel Du Champ issue, honoring his 100th birthday, of this long-running art zine helmed by Frank Gaard, a teacher at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
ARTPOLICE Vol. 13 No. 1
With a punk ethos and an outsider quality, ARTPOLICE was a reactionary publication designed to provoke, even within its own ranks, which in the early years largely consisted of Gaard's current and former students. "I wanted to break all the rules...I fancied myself and art criminal." Issues are comprised almost entirely of line drawings, with constant variation in size, printing methods, titles and issue numbers (there are at least seven issues marked volume 1 no. 1). Contributors to this issue include Craig Smith, Jon West, Mike De Voni, Chris Woodward, Andy Baird, Robert Corbit Bill McKearn, Ann Morgan, Rick Noble, Mike McCoy, John Lagaespada, Michael Brehm and Frank Gaard. [Aarons and Roth, 78-87].
Minneapolis, MN: Artpolice, 1987. Wraps. 4to. Saddle-stapled in self wraps. Lacking sheet of stamps as issued. Very minor edgewear to wraps, else fine.
