HOW TO LIGHT SHOPPING CENTERS: Layouts, Specifications and Data
Contains sections of photocopied data, diagrams and information that appears to be for in-house use at GE, likely produced by the outdoor lighting department for use in sales and marketing. But also includes various color-offset printed promotional sheets and pamphlets intended for distribution to architects, developers and owners of shopping centers and other outdoor commercial spaces. Illustrated by many black and white photographs of GE products in use at various businesses, the color sections show the various product offerings and their applications. Published at a time when shopping centers were just maturing into the fully enclosed buildings we now recognize as shopping malls, this booklet illustrates the importance of the parking lot in the design and function of malls, a defining feature of the late twentieth century American landscape and a central element of post-war suburban development
