Featuring black and white photographs of various high rises, dingbats and other midcentury apartment buildings in various Los Angeles locations. Captured in a flat style reminiscent of real-estate listings, the photos often include the signage and lettering of the buildings, furthering Ruscha's preoccupation with text, typography and language. Like much of Ruscha's work in this period, SOME LOS ANGELES APARTMENTS investigates the particulars of the California landscape while addressing larger issues of place, location, and identity. [Phillpot, CATALOGUE RAISONNE, 74].
Los Angeles: Anderson, Ritchie and Simon, (1970). Wraps. 8v0. Perfect bound in original wraps and glassing. Mild toning and slight touches of edgewear to glassine. Wraps fresh. Interior bright and clean. Near fine.
