Reprinted from the Redemptorist Catholic monthly magazine The Liguorian, Teen-Agers and Kissing mixes indiscriminate moral condemnation of 1950s licentiousness with very targeted warnings directed exclusively at girls, who are said to be "in a sense" responsible for the temptations they offer to boys. Besides, "A girl who easily lets herself be kissed...is definitely secondhand goods." Are lighthearted party games, such as "Post Office" or Spin the Bottle, also sinful? Yes: they are part of the "pagan cult of the body and its lusts."
An illuminating view of the cultural counter-messaging aimed at religious teenagers of the 1950s, and a brutally explicit elucidation of a double standard that pervaded even the secular youth culture of the era. OCLC locates just two holdings.
