"You may not believe it, / but here's how it happened. / One fine summer morning... / a little bug sneezed."
Cause and effect devolve into chaos in this tale of a chain reaction originating from a bug's sneeze. Theodore Geisel (AKA Dr. Seuss) teamed up with his friend and editor Michael Frith for BECAUSE A LITTLE BUG WENT KA-CHOO!, featuring that particularly Seussian combination of silly rhymes and lively artwork. This book was published in the same year that Frith joined Henson Associates as an art director, and one can certainly see the intersection of his illustrations for this title and the design of the Muppets.
This is Geisel's only work under the pen name Rosetta Stone – partly inspired by the ancient artifact and partly by his second wife's maiden name, Stone. A rather scarce work in his large oeuvre.
