Kellogg has written and/or illustrated more than one hundred children's books. He is a recipient of the Regina Medal for lifetime contribution to children's literature, and his books have won numerous awards such as the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, the Irma Simonton Black Award, the IRA-CBC Children's Choice Award, and the Parents' Choice Award. In 2011 he donated his archive to the University of Findlay's Mazza Museum.
First edition. New York: Four Winds Press, (1981). 11'' x 8.5''. Original quarter purple cloth over boards. In original unclipped ($10.95) color pictorial jacket. Warmly inscribed by Kellogg to the front free endpaper: "For Amy [drawing of a star] / with / Appreciation / and / [in a heart] love from / your friend / Steven Kellogg." Beside Kellogg has added a drawing of a cute rhino. Mild shelfwear. Some sunning to top edge of book. Faint rubbing to jacket, with one short closed tear to front panel. Overall clean and sound.
