Marden executed these striking paintings at his vacation home on the Greek island of Hydra; his first was executed on "a marble shard left over from the construction of a garden bench" (5). The series juxtaposes Marden's modern, minimalist style with a sense of age and decay, as well as a sense of playfulness. An attractive production.
