Scarce first printing of this installment in Corliss's ambitious and entertaining series of sourcebooks on the unknown.
Very good in very good jacket.
"Who, for example, will believe the story of an exquisitely wrought metal bell found in solid rock?"
ANCIENT MAN collects a vast assortment of alternative archaeological theories, from the slightly disreputable to the entirely disreputable, along with a few genuine mysteries. Corliss was a successor to Charles Fort as well as a trained physicist who also wrote a number of educational works for NASA and the National Science Foundation, drew praise from Arthur C. Clarke for his scientific outlook–though "scientific" is here understood in relation to the methods of other Forteans, not other scientists. A useful reference work.
