This extensive overview of de Kooning's life and career, "effectively the first full-scale monograph on de Kooning's art," covers the seventy-year period from 1916 to 1987. With chronologies by Delphine Huisinga; critical essays by Elderfield, Lauren Mahony, and Jennifer Field; and additional contributions by Jim Coddington and Susan F. Lake.
