First edition of this proto-steampunk science fiction short story, depicting a dystopian world filled with airships and featuring fake publisher's ads for future technology like helium batteries and synthetic minerals.
Very good plus.
WITH THE NIGHT MAIL: A Story Of 2000 A.D.
Expanded from a short story first published in MCLURE'S MAGAZINE in 1905, WITH THE NIGHT MAIL follows the adventures of a postal worker who is swept into dangerous weather. The inventive "ads" at the rear "purportedly from a periodical of 2000 A.D." are one of the book's best features (Bleiler 408) — alongside its stunning cover design.
