"I may not have been Mr. Benson, but I knew where he hung out." (Preston)
First published in serial installments in DRUMMER magazine, "a first draft of leather history" and "a people's magazine that helped invent modern gay publishing as we know it" (Fritscher), MR. BENSON immediately acquired a legion of devoted fans. After a three-year struggle to find a cooperative printer, Preston's groundbreaking novel finally appeared in its entirety, re-edited and with an added epilogue. It is introduced by DRUMMER editor Robert Payne (John Embry), who wrote: "John Preston has created a masterpiece not only in the leather and SM world, but in gay publishing."
