By Isabel M. Johnson, illustrated by W. W. Denslow
First edition, a rare original fairy tale boldly illustrated in W. W. Denslow's signature poster-like style.
THE JEWELED TOAD
This title was one of Denslow's later attempts to regain the fortune he found as the illustrator of THE WIZARD OF OZ. Based on a musical play that was never produced, this story follows young Towsey and her animal friends as they encounter adventures on a quest to find THE JEWELED TOAD. The title did not sell well when it was first published, leading to its rarity today.
