Ruth Plumly Thompson assumed the mantle of Royal Historian of Oz in 1920, though her name did not appear on an Oz title page until 1922's KABUMPO IN OZ. KABUMPO introduces the elephant who would become "the popular favorite of all of Thompson's [Oz] characters" (Bienvenue, 95), and features elements inspired by Baum's PATCHWORK GIRL and RINKITINK. This is a particularly nice copy of the continuation of the beloved series.
