Luxurious edition of Walton's classic treatise on the virtuous and temperate recreation, with Rackham's illustrations, in the rare publisher's morocco binding.
"And now for the water, the element that I trade in."
Rackham's sinuous lines and hazy palette are well matched to Walton's meditation on the art of angling, the element of water, and the chaste and lustful fishes that dwell therein; like a body of water it may be entered at midpoint and read in either direction to profitable effect. Text is that of the fifth edition of 1676, with modernized spelling, reprinted from the edition edited by Richard Le Gallienne in 1897; copies in the sumptuous full morocco binding were issued following the limited vellum edition but before the cloth. A lovely copy.
