This was the first book in the series to be styled "The Peter Rabbit Books, Series II, New Style," featuring a slightly modified and more elaborate binding, but in the same format. Warne had suggested this book being an entirely new series, but Potter asserted her desire to keep "the Peter Rabbit book' name" (quoted in Linder).
