"I have read THE ORCHID, Nathan's first book in two years. Now God's in his heaven again and everything is quite alright with the world." – The Brooklyn Citizen
This beautiful production was created uncut in rose boards and in an Art Deco-style slipcase that matches the deluxe production's endpapers. Bound at the rear of the book is a typewritten limitation page signed by Scott Cunningham, reading in part: "This is one of two copies of the first edition bound with the sheets entirely uncut, – prior to the date of publication. In a sense these copies are advance issues, and it is certain in any case that they are the only 'large paper' or 'de luxe' copies in existence." A rare and unusual collector's item, as it was meant to be from its production in 1931.
