Frederick Warne and Co. intended to publish three new Beatrix Potter titles in special wallet bindings for the Christmas season of 1906, but only two made it to the press, one of which is MISS MOPPET. Like many innovative marketing pushes, the accordion-fold format of the wallet bindings came with unforseen challenges: Potter recalled in later correspondence how "the shops sensibly refused to stock them because they got unrolled, and so bad to fold up again" (Linder, 183). With 14 color illustrations. [28] pages with green borders, printed one side only, bound accordion-style and backed with light green cloth. Binding with some wear to corners and rear joint of flap, spot of soil to rear; scuffing to silver accent. Binding hinges with minor cracking, light wear to hinges of leaves; small scuff to second illustration. Clean and bright.
