"It is not beyond belief that children of the future will amuse themselves by playing that they lived in that long-ago and wonderful period of the 1950s through which we ourselves are living."
MISTS OF DAWN was originally published in 1952 as part of the Winston Juvenile Series of science fiction novels for young adults, brought back into print by editors David G. Hartwell and L.W. Currey. All books in the series featured an authorial introduction discussing the scientific foundations of the story to follow; in MISTS OF DAWN, a time-travel adventure, Oliver provides a brief essay on "The Science of Man", with such subheadings as "How to travel in time" and "What is Anthropology?" He regrets to inform the reader that there are no dinosaurs in this book. A beautiful copy of this uncommon edition.
