There are few names as synonymous with children's books as Maurice Sendak. THE GUARDIAN called him "one of the most successful illustrators of the 20th century," flagging his 1963 breakout hit WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE as "a turning point [...] in the history of children's books." Among his numerous accolades are the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the Caldecott Medal, seven Caldecott Honors, and the National Book Award.
