Thomas Locker's grounding as a second-generation painter in the Hudson River School deeply informs his illustrations. "I thought I would bring the world of fine art to children," he recalled in an interview with the VALLEY ADVOCATE in 2012; he illustrated 36 picture books to that aim, each full of stunning landscapes.
