Following Markson's death in 2010, the bulk of his private library found its way to The Strand, and from there to myriad buyers much like the author himself — an avid buyer but not keeper of books, who had in life already sold off "as many as 400 at a time throughout the years."
Verlaine, once a Strand employee and eulogized as the bookstore's best customer, was a master at finding "little gems for a dollar" on the book carts — likely including this study of a study of myth and ritual. A scarce record of the intersection between two cult icons and great book buyers of the twentieth century.
