This first-person narrative of a teenage girl's introduction to surfing in Malibu was based on the author's daughter, Kathy Kohner. Soon Gidget became a cultural phenomenon, riding the same wave of enthusiasm as the Beach Boys.

First edition. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, (1957). 7.25'' x 5'' Original blue cloth, spine lettered in light blue, seagull illustration stamped in light blue on front board. In original unclipped ($2.75) photographic dust jacket designed by Ben Feder, Inc. 156 pages. Some minor splitting at folds, but sound. Chipping and crease to spine. A couple of nicks and small closed tears. Presents well. Book mildly shelfworn at extremities. Overall, a bright and clean copy.
