Oyewole was one of the founding members of the original line-up of the Last Poets, who are often credited as being one of the earliest influences on Hip-hop music. Public Enemy's Chuck D described the Last Poets and their contemporary Gil Scott Heron as "not only important; they're necessary, because they are the roots of rap — taking a word and juxtaposing it into some sort of music."

First printing. (New York): (Espress Speed Print), 1983. 8.25'' x 5.5''. Original brown paper wrappers. Illustrated (black and white) chapter titles. Unpaginated. Inscription by Oyewole to verso of front wrapper: "Feb 7, 1988 / To Kristen / I love your strength and your <u>no</u> nonsense attitude / Keep on keepin on / Abiodun." Phone number penned to last leaf. Wrappers unevenly sunned, with some faint rubbing. Interior clean. Firm.
