Best known as the writer of WHEN HARRY MET SALLY, co-writer and director of SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE and YOU'VE GOT MAIL, and writer/director of JULIE AND JULIA, Ephron began her early career as a journalist and ESQUIRE columnist in the late '60s before moving to screenwriting and fictionalizing the end of her second marriage (to Carl Bernstein) in her novel HEARTBURN, which was later adapted into a film starring Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson.
