Evocative collection of photographs from what appears to be an amateur fashion show, taking place in a public building, likely a community center, church or school. The majority of the photographs depict the snazzily-dressed walking down the runway. An array of fantastic outfits are on display here: a kaftan here, a set of colored suspenders there, three piece suits, tasteful dresses, and more than one fly fur coat. In one photograph a child makes his way down the runway to encouraging smiles. Another captures the moment a woman in the audience tosses an exaggerated look at a model in a speedo strutting past. A few photos show the live three-piece band scoring the event. Together, a dynamic and intimate portrait of late 20th century Black fashion and style.
