"We are men of secluded habits, with something of a cloud upon our early fortunes, whose enthusiasm, nevertheless, has not cooled with age, whose spirit of romance is not yet quenched, who are content to ramble through the world in a pleasant dream, rather than ever waken again to its harsh realities."
In the framing narrative for this weekly periodical, published from April 1840 to December 1841, the titular Master Humphrey sets up a club where he along with his friends and colleagues share stories with each other — one of whom is Mr. Pickwick of THE PICKWICK PAPERS, creating a sort of Dickensian Extended Universe.
