Yuppies, downtown art stars, Donald Trump, plastic surgery, and Rudi Giuliani: 7 DAYS was "[p]ublished by then-[Village]-Voice owner Leonard Stern for two years bridging the '80s and '90s [and] was a glorious failure, bleeding money, but minting the reputations for a generation of fledgling journalists" (ibid). Issues included are: Vol. 1 No. 9 (5/25/88), Vol. 2 No. 6 (2/15/89), Vol. 2 No 12 (3/29/89), Vol. 2 No. 15 (4/19/89), Vol. 2 No. 16 (4/26/89), Vol. 2 No. 18 (5/10/89), Vol. 2 No. 19 (5/17/89), Vol. 2 No. 20 (5/28/89), Vol. 2 No. 21 (5/31/89), Vol. 2 No. 25 (6/28/89), Vol. 2 No. 30 (8/9/89), Vol. 2 No. 33 (8/30/89), Vol. 2 No. 38 (10/4/89), and Vol. 2 No. 48 (12/13/89). Surviving examples are uncommon, substantive runs scarce. A representative group of this vital document from a transitional New York City, which sadly went out of business the week before winning the National Magazine Award for General Excellence.
