Turned down my Macmillan as too radical, WOMAN AND THE NEW RACE became a bestseller for the publisher willing to take it on, Brentano's. WOMAN AND THE NEW RACE made the argument that birth control was a societal good and became one of the most widely read books of first-wave feminism.
