THE CURSE OF LONO begins with Thompson's solicitation by RUNNING magazine (and his immediate enlistment of Steadman) to cover the 1980 Honolulu Marathon but quickly devolves into a booze-fueled trip punctuated by bad weather, the local drug trade, deep sea fishing, Captain James Cook, an obsession with the ancient Hawaiian god Lono, and Thompson eventually needing to seek refuge in an historic national park. Originally published in 1983, THE CURSE OF LONO remained out-of-print until this 2005 limited edition. One of only 200 Artist's Proof (AP) copies.

Original white cloth boards, black stamped titles to spine, color titles and Steadman illustration to front board. No jacket, as issued. In publisher's dark orange slipcase with black stamped titles and white pull ribbon. All housed in publisher's original cardboard box. Dark orange endpapers. Illustrated in color throughout. Signed by Thompson and Steadman on special limitation page. One of 200 Artist's Proof (AP) copies from a total edition of 1000; this copy 166/200. 198 pages. Very faint finger print smudge to book's rear board. Original hand-numbered label for cardboard box loosely laid in. Overall sharp and bright.
