Spectacular first printing of the d'Aulaires' illustrated biography of BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, with charming original watercolor and inscription.
Near fine in like dust jacket.
Garden City: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1950. 10.75'' x 8.5''. Original cloth-backed color pictorial boards. Original unclipped ($2.50) color pictorial dust jacket. Profusely illustrated in color and brown and white.  pages. With original watercolor in brown to front flyleaf, featuring a bust of Benjamin Franklin and floral elements. Inscribed in ink on front fly leaf "To/ our dear Kings/ with/ many thanks/ for their invaluable/ help on this/ book/ from Ingri & Edgar/ 1950" with the names Alice Campbell, Edward, and Virginia incorporated into the surrounding watercolor. Very mild rubbing to edges of dust jacket. Only slightest rubbing to extremities of binding, light toning to inscribed page; a bright and unique copy.
