Scarce early 20th century American Struwwelpeter, with bright and jaunty Walter Hayn illustrations.
Very good plus.
"The door flew open, in he ran<br />The great long-legged scissor-man."
Uncommon 1920s American Struwwelpeter, with English verses modeled after Hoffmann's righteous moral vignettes of merciless Justice visited upon careless and vicious children and additional embellishments on the theme of cruelty to animals. Contains the following verse titles: Jimmy Sliderlegs, Slovenly Peter, Cruel Frederick, The Story of Little Suck-a-Thumb, The Story of Fidgety Philip, The Story of Flying Robert, Little Jacob, Frank the Liar, Tom the Thief, Paul the Tormentor, Simple Hans, Idle Fritz, Heedless Hugo, Ned the Toy-Breaker, and Prying Will. An appealing edition of these cautionary tales.
