"This little pig cried Wee! wee! wee! I can't find my way home."
The sequel to APPLEY DAPPLY'S NURSERY RHYMES (1917), Potter's first book of nursery rhymes: both include adaptations of classic nursery rhymes and new compositions of her own. Her interest in traditional nursery rhymes goes back as far as 1893, when she began composing her own versions, long before the success of PETER RABBIT. In 1897 she even turned her Cecily Parsley rhyme into a homemade booklet. After PETER RABBIT took off, Potter turned her attention away from her beloved nursery rhymes, but eventually they pulled her back: two of her 1893 creations – one on Nanny Nettycoat and another on a guinea pigs' garden – were finally published in revised form here, nearly 30 years later.
