Although THE FAMISHED ROAD has drawn parallels to works of magical realism such as ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE, Okri's acclaimed novel, wherein the spirit world and regular life spill into each other, is rooted in its own cultural context. "It is the redoubtable accomplishment of this book [...] to have forged a narrative that is both engagingly lyrical and intriguingly post-modern.
