First produced on Broadway in 1959 (and published by Random House the same year), RAISIN IN THE SUN received major acclaim and soon opened on West End, as well as being turned into a movie. The 1961 film featured the original Broadway cast, starring Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee, depicted on the front cover of this edition.
